The Derby Brew Club was established in the Derby, serving the greater Derby and Wichita Kansas area in 1991 as a non-profit organization by five individuals who wanted to develop and share their knowledge about the art of homebrewing. They succeeded and grew the membership in the club by learning from each other and helping new homebrewers develop their skills.
The Derby Brew Club is affiliated with the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), an organization with more than 600 clubs worldwide. The Derby Brew Club won the 1997 AHA Brewclub of the Year competition. Its members have won the Midwest Brewer of the Year award and best of show and other ribbons at many competitons for beer, mead, and wine.
The active membership of the Derby Brew Club is comprised of about 14 members whose occupations are as varied as the beers they brew. Several are Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) judges. Club members have experience in all-grain, partial mashes, and extract brewing. The club has several members who are highly qualified mead and wine makers as well.
The If you have a desire to learn how to homebrew, to improve your current brewing skills, to learn about the many different styles of beer, or to increase your beer judging proficiency, then we invite you to check out the Derby Brew Club.
